Shane Hastings is the founder of Iluka, an award-winning design and art studio specialising in storytelling for the built environment. With over 16 years of experience, Shane brings ideas to life through placemaking, public art, landscape design, 3D visualisation, signage, wayfinding, and photography. He works closely with clients and collaborators to create immersive experiences that are both engaging and meaningful.

Guided by a holistic sense of place, Shane focuses on the details that bring cohesion, clarity, and meaning to each project. Iluka’s work spans placemaking, public art, landscape design, visual communications, 3D visualisation, signage, wayfinding, and photography - crafting experiences that connect people to place in compelling and thoughtful ways.

As an artist, Shane draws inspiration from the Sunshine Coast, his broader travels, and the emotional resonance of landscape. He is driven by a desire to tell authentic stories through his work, blending creativity and practicality to shape environments that are respectful, distinctive, and inspire.
